The First Sunday Morning Blues Show on WZLX
The very first Sunday Morning Blues program on WZLX was an experiment granted by radio station management to Carter Alan for a two-hour show that would introduce or reaquaint listeners to the music and artists that inspired Classic Rock. Little did they know, the experiment would be more than successful, resulting in a weekly 3-hour show and later, WZLX HD-2 “Radio Mojo” where the Blues is king and it’s played 24/7 on the air and online!
Compared to the current Sunday Morning Blues shows, the first one was relatively conservative…

I’m glad somebody had the presence of mind to document this show. I’ve been rediscovering Johnny Winter lately so I’m glad he was included on the maiden voyage. I love that Foghat poked its way onto this show too. Most people rank them as one step above Spinal Tap and that is so wrong I can’t even begin to explain it. Now that we are approaching the ten year anniversary it’s safe to say we’ve got a New England institution in SMB. More importantly somebody is carrying the torch for the blues on the radio. Priceless!

Can’t believe how time flies! People shouldn’t knock Foghat - Rod Price was a mean slide player!
